Think Beyond The Scale

It is so easy to get obsessed with the number of the scale - whether you're trying to lose fat or gain muscle, your weight is your most obvious guide but that does not mean it is the best one.

Here are a few ways you can practice thinking/ training beyond the scale:

- Don't Fight The Feeling: As trainers, we aren't really worried about the scale, we are more concerned with how you preform on those monthly fitness tests and evaluations. The numbers can never tell the complete story so, change your mindset to thinking more about how you feel. Let how you are moving and feeling be your guide.

- Progress Pictures or It Didn't Happen: Taking pictures is one of our favourite ways to gauge success, it is simply recording everything - from what you eat to your workouts. Whether it is a video or a notebook, when you have a constant log you can easily track your progress and see how far you have come.

- Ditch the Scale: It often produces a falsely low number due to loss of fluids or muscle or vice versa, what you should strive for improved health, mobility and cognition.
